We purchased Auvik to replace Solarwinds due to horrible support. Auvik has been amazing since day one. The product is extremely easy to set up, easy to maintain, and when there is an issue their support is on it. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is needing a product they can depend on without having to have hands-on it every day.

Our previous solution was a pain to set up and maintain. This product has an on-prem collector that is simple to set up. Then it watches the networks you provide and you can use one collector for multiple properties.

Auvik is a remote monitoring and management tool for networks, with extensive support for products and platforms commonly found in mid-sized to enterprise organizations. It provides real-time insight into network conditions and devices, largely replacing static documentation. Its Remote Browser support for nearly anything with a web-based management console is a huge time-saver.
  • Detailed information
  • Overview and insight
  • Useful inventory
  • Onboarding requires LOTS of fine-tuning
  • Very odd specifics in setting up and modifying alerts
  • Many UI quirks that have never been addressed
Auvik would be a useful product in medium to large organizations with multiple sites, with certain network hardware: Cisco, HP, Juniper, and Meraki. Auvik is less useful in smaller or more heterogeneous organizations.

Monitoring and investigation. Network loops and monitoring
  • Network Monitoring
  • Network Infrastructure mapping
  • Network Infrastructure should have an option to be manually set and static
  • Agents that can be installed on firewalls
Auvik has assisted us in figuring out network loops, offline statuses, and easy network infrastructure mapping. This is best for MSP's or any IT companies to use. Other than the downtime Auvik has, it has been well used in its times for emergencies and regular investigations. Auvik should have a WAN network monitor as well however.

We use Auvik in multiple ways across most of our clients - discovery, management, mitigation, configuration management, network trends, flow monitoring, alerting, and others. Deployment is quick and lightweight, which makes buy-in that much easier.

Auvik has been used to address many business cases and situations, including malware/crypto mitigation, emergency outage responses, validation of the network, and trending of network flows to create a baseline of the environment.
  • Discovering interconnectivity of network devices
  • Configuration management
  • Inventory
  • Troubleshooting
  • Mapping complex multiple-site interconnectivity could use improvement
  • Inability to turn off banner messages
  • Switch stack membership could use a better visual representation on the map
Auvik is fantastic for managing multi-site, multi-company networks - very well suited for MSP or consultative technology companies. Navigation is simple and easy between clients and their sites.

Auvik is less well suited for managing single sites or single companies - it is really meant to be used at a larger scale.

Auvik allows us to easily reveal critical layer 2 and 3 network details that are needed to create missing/update outdated network diagrams for our customers. Especially for complex networks, this drastically helps our engineers work more efficiently in doing discovery. We also use it for a variety of alerts that help us know when an ISP goes down, or a firewall has been trending with too high utilization, and plenty more. The automatic device configuration backups are a huge help. There's even more potential that doesn't get used as often by us but is still a great feature that comes in handy at times, such as the remote tunnel capabilities.
  • SNMP alerting
  • Configuration backups
  • Network diagramming
  • The map is not easy to quickly zoom in and out of or pan around. Usually requires a lot of filter toggling. Keyboard shortcuts for this would be nice.
  • Better global settings that can be pushed to multiple client organizations
  • Security groups/RBAC for user permissions across multiple clients
  • Ability to change the URL
Auvik is great when you have clients that have multiple locations connected with VPN tunnels—helps you get a better visual on topology for layer 2. VLAN segmentation/layer 3 topology is harder to visually see. Auvik is a big asset for the majority of our customers with average/complex networks. For small clients with a more flat/simple topology, Auvik is a bit overkill, however.

We use Auvik to generate alerts for network events, offline devices, and other issues. Auvik quickly lets you see what devices are online and offline which is crucial for determining the point of failure. You can view ling statuses, switchports, and VLANS. We use it to monitor the statuses of lots of switches, point-to-point APs, cameras, and SIP phones at our biggest clients, and diagnose issues when they come up.

  • Alerting
  • Licensing can be difficult to estimate
  • IP address conflicts

As an MSP Auvik has been a godsend. From new client onboarding to network troubleshooting it does it all. Being able to have a dynamic and up-to-date map of the environment has saved time looking for issues allowing us to be more proactive and provide a better value to our customers. With every new version, they make major improvements which makes it truly worth the cost.
  • Network discovery and mapping
  • Alerting to problems
  • Configuration change recommendations
  • I would like to see a multi windowed interface
  • Better mapping with some products
Auvik is well suited to more complex environments with managed switches and AP's By having a single pane of glass for monitoring and managing allows for faster support. Auvik is not suited for smaller clients without the proper infrastructure which needs to be managed by the service. Unmanaged switches do not provide any information.

We are a Managed Service Provider and use this to manage networks for several of our larger customers. We use it to create documentation, and provide information on the network. Our external NOC also uses it for management and it is Integrated with our Professional Services Automation tool (autotask). We also use it for traffic analysis.
  • Captures alerts over a LONG period of time (as long as the agent is installed)
  • Excellent ability to drill down on Traffic data
  • Inventory of assets, both network components and and all connected devices
  • Visual Map alerts
  • Ability to export data
  • The reporting is not great and needs improvement. Much data, but not as useable in native format as it could be
  • There have been issues with exporting data into Power BI in multi-site locations
  • Multi-site location functionality and mapping could be better
It's been great for the discovery of a network. We like that there is a good ability to drill down on traffic data as well. We've used this to understand what apps are consuming bandwidth when there are reports of a "slow network". Note that this feature is only available in the "Performance Agent" upgrade, but we use this frequently.

Auvik is used to document and support multiple networks throughout our business. It's still under construction but becoming more valuable by the day. Will be used to diagnose errors while monitoring traffic at the sites. We use a shared collector and in some instances, we've found more information can be gathered by deploying a collector onsite. Multiple collectors monitor traffic and all nodes on multiple networks to increase performance and improve troubleshooting.
  • Visual documentation of network mapping
  • Easy to add new sites/networks
  • Clearly defined network architecture which aids troubleshooting
  • Customizable alerts which can be tailored to our sites for urgency
  • Geolocation map which can easily show us where traffic is accessing our networks
  • Non-standard industrial equipment shows up as generic devices on the network
  • RDP in remote management would be handy
  • Additional notes section for networks would be handy
Daily monitoring of networks is helped greatly by Auvik. Set up the alerts so that they are tailored to exactly what your business-critical devices report. Alerting to monitor traffic for bottlenecks and find the sources to increase efficiency on the networks. Documentation and training via Auvik are exceptional. The shared collector is not the best for our networks where we have locked down firewall rules. In these instances, I've found it easier to deploy a collector to the site and create rules to allow it access.

The business problem that most of our companies face is the lack of visibility on the infrastructure operations. Auvik does the job by providing granular data and generating alerts, whenever there is an issue. The scope of my use case is firewalls, routers, and switches from the top to end-users.
  • Granular alerts on how many packets are processed in a switchport
  • Direct remote access to devices
  • Prompt alerts sent through email
  • Ticketing integration (ConnectWise)
  • An option to use a different account temporarily for remote access to managed devices
  • Redundant/load balancing for Auvik collectors
Auvik is well suited for any type of network monitoring or inventory collection, where it gives you all of the information that you need, and you get alerted on time to further troubleshoot. This is a perfect solution for managed service providers, where you can add more than one company and manage all of your customers in a single pane of glass.

We use Auvik to support other ISPs and networks. Auvik really allows us to look at traffic usage and patterns with their traffic insights. We currently have our own internal network on Auvik as well as individual supported networks. Our affiliates really appreciate the ability to "see" the traffic patterns in their networks.
  • traffic insights
  • network discovery
  • network security
  • Install and launch instructions, especially regarding shared collectors can be difficult to follow.
  • The branded colors of gray and black lines can be hard to understand and things with a higher contrast like green for good connections might be beneficial.
  • Persistent filters on the traffic insights dashboard would be useful.
We find Auvik is well suited for smaller networks. Larger networks tend to get cluttered in the dashboard. You can zoom in but the 64,000 foot view can look overwhelming. The ability to filer network segments was eyeopening in the presentation and will be something we will likely start following up on.

  • Maps the network
  • Identifies subnets
  • Monitors devices
  • Clearer diagram. More like Meraki that seems pretty good.

Mostly we use Auvik for monitoring, audit, backup and reporting to our other systems.
We deploy them on client environments to detect issues, bottlenecks and upgrade paths.

- Integrate Auvik reporting to our CRM and service desk to allow near instant acknowledgement from the team when critical equipment have issues.
- Deploy to new environment to understand the scope of the network so we can compare what the client tells us and what we can see.
- Config backups and monitoring
- Bandwidth monitoring
  • Visualization of the network
  • Great selection of config options
  • Flexible implementations
  • Great documentation and support
  • Performance of the visualization is a bit slow to show.
  • Some of the UI can be counter intuitive.
  • No app on IOS or Android (web performance are not great even on the latest ipad).
  • Takes a fair bit of time to set up right.
Great for Monitoring, planning and maintaining an environment. It does take a fair bit of time to set up and can be very daunting for less experienced Engineers to implement or even challenging for a small internal IT to implement. But if you have an experienced L2 this tool can be modified based on what you want to achieve.

Auvik saves time during the initial onboarding of a client by helping to see network issues that would be tedious to find manually. The automatically generated map saves time while troubleshooting while also raising alerts in the PSA and highlighting issues before they are known. After the setup process, the product is mostly set and forgotten and can be left to monitor the network for any issues that arise or change, while also useful to manage switches/routers with config backups and remote management.
  • Automated alerts and monitoring
  • Network Map which makes it easier to display outages/faults
  • Remote management with terminal
  • Backup of switch/router configs
  • Setup process is tedious at times but usually only needs to be done once
  • Setting up correct credentials on devices can be frustrating with the UI and the agent waiting to retry if they were incorrect
Auvik is well suited for larger sites with complicated networks, it makes it easy to see VLANs and separate networks while also highlighting VPNs to other sites and interlinks between networks. It's also useful for SMB networks however on smaller networks (especially with ISP routers) you may not be able to get much or any detail from a network.

I work for an MSP and we rely pretty heavily on Auvik. Once we get a new client, we deploy Auvik and set it up to map out the network and for alert monitoring. This has helped us with certain issues that occurred on VM hosts that we did not know were happening in some instances. Auvik also helps us find devices on the network, builds a great network topology map, and helps us monitor their networks alongside our stack.
  • Network Topology

we use it to actively monitor all network items, remote into web GUI-enabled devices, and have a literal view of the entire network. the business problem that Auvik addresses are the ability to view the entire network at a glance, having all the items interactive, and being able to show the client all of these items is a big part of having a great, open relationship with our clients.
  • The interactive SNMP map that is automatically made
  • The support through live chat is quick and to the point
  • The fact that you can proxy in to all web GUI's is incredibly handy.
  • I can't think of any areas needing improving.
it is well suited when an environment has both a higher-end firewall as well as an onsite server. all other items like a managed switch, AP's, etc. are just gravy on top when you can automatically backup said devices. it is less appropriate on simple networks that have no SNMP monitoring or just a basic router and only workstations - no added benefits really.

Auvik is great to pull in additional information to pack into IT Glue. Getting all of that connectivity information with MAC addresses, workstations, IoT devices, and other things that don't always show up in Active Directory is great. Want to see rogue access points? They will show up as well as when first connected.

Brings great visibility to network traffic which was otherwise much more difficult to collect and analyze under one dashboard. The problem with traditional products is that it gives you too much information that overwhelms you. With Auvik we've noticed it's just the right amount and then you can drill down as needed.
  • Network Discovery
  • Analysis
  • SNMP
  • Does what the product description says
Perfect for environments where network management is widespread with a lean IT staff. If you already have a lot of log collectors, network taps, and enterprise software, there's probably less need to add on another product like this. It's more of a replacement.

Auvik is our network map. If I can't find something, 9 times out of 10 it's in Auvik and I can quickly locate/analyze/access my resource. Every company should use this for its network mapping and management. The SNMP connections make things super simple when implementing.
  • Organizes Resources
  • Maps Network
  • Allows for remote management
  • Speeds up investigation
  • I really haven't found anything
If I have a client that is on our network but I can't find them, the search-ability makes it super simple to find things.
